🥔 CREAM of POTATO SOUP ~ LARGE FAMILY STYLE

Family-Sized Batch
2 1/2 lbs potatoes
Celery, to taste
1/4 Tbsp garlic powder
1 1/2 tsp. salt
1 tsp. pepper
3/4 tsp. onion powder
3/4 tsp. parsley flakes
1/4 cup butter or margarine
@1 quart milk
Bacon and Cheese for toppings

Or, Extra Large Batch
5 lbs potatoes
Celery, to taste
1/2 Tbsp garlic powder
1 Tbsp salt
1/2-3/4 Tbsp pepper
1/2 Tbsp onion powder
1/2 Tbsp parsley flakes
1/2 cup butter or margarine
@1/2 gallon milk
Bacon and Cheese for toppings

Wash potatoes, but don’t peel.
Put potatoes and celery (if using) in large stock pot and cover with water.
Bring water to a boil, then turn off and leave on burner.
Drain potatoes, and peel. (The skins should slip right off at this point if it’s been several hours.)
Place peeled potatoes back in stock pot and mash into chunks with either a potato masher, a Kitchen Aid, or a hand mixer.
Place pot on burner and turn on low.
Add milk to the level you prefer.
Add spices and butter.
Simmer and stir often until heated through, for 15-20 minutes.
Sprinkle bacon and cheese on top.
